"The cleanest lake in the North of England for open water swimming"

Water Sports - Open 9.00am, Gate Locked 5.00pm every day.

COVID 19 VIRUS PROCEDURES

During these unprecedented times it is vital that we think of others before ourselves and make sure we neither risk the spreading of the Covid 19 virus or place an unnecessary burden on the emergency services.

With this in mind and in line with government and industry guidelines, the following rules will apply. Anyone not adhering to these rules will be asked to leave immediately and not permitted to return:-

Report and pay at the red pickup.

The lake is exclusively open for open water swimming, diving, paddle boarding, canoeing, and dinghy sailing.

All divers must clean and sanitise their equipment before visiting Ellerton Park.

No open water swimming beginners are permitted.

All participants must wear wetsuits.

Social distancing must be adhered to at all times: a minimum of 2 metres.

Only one person on the jetty at any time. Please give priority to people leaving the water.

No spectators or groups allowed and no children under 16 unless participating with a parent.

Park sensibly and consider social distancing when getting in and out and moving around your vehicle.

Correct money required - no change will be given. (See price board at gate.)

No showering will be available and 1 toilet will be open for single use only.

No dogs allowed.

All participants must leave immediately after their chosen exercise is completed.

Walking around the lake is prohibited.

No food or drink to be consumed on site.

All litter must be taken home to be disposed of to avoid the spread of the virus.

WE APPRECIATE YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND HOPE THIS WILL ENABLE US TO REMAIN OPEN AND HELP ENSURE THE SAFETY OF ALL.

OPEN WATER SWIMMING

We welcome Triathlon swimmers (no competitions at present) and open water swimmers for training. Please note all swimmers must wear wetsuits. Quoted by one of the leading triathlon magazines as "the cleanest lake in the north of England for swimming", Ellerton Park holds two major and a number of smaller Triathlon events. Qualified instructors are available for open water swimming - book by appointment with Wild About Swimming.

DIVING

The lake is very popular with divers and is ideal for training purposes with a maximum depth of 10 meters. There are certain objects placed within the lake for the more experienced divers to investigate and a platform for easy access in and out of the water. Visibility is generally very good as the lake is fed by natural springs.

WATER SPORTS

For a great day out, come and spend a day on the water with your own sailing boat, canoe, kayak or paddle board. The easy access into the lake from our large car park makes it ideal for all non-motorised watersports.

The 60 acres of fresh water allows for plenty of scope for the more skilled operators whilst youngsters and beginners can try the smaller, quieter bays situated around the lake.

We also welcome schools, clubs and organisations.

FISHING

Ellerton Park has an excellent reputation for course fishing and is fast becoming one of the best Carp waters in the area, with specimen fish being caught in excess of 30lb. The lake is also well stocked with Bream, Roach, Perch and Pike.

SCOUTS

The Scouts have their North Yorkshire water activities centre at Ellerton Park and can be seen here most weekends, using the water or camping adjacent to the Scout compound.
